Troubled lineman Jonathan Martin to miss Miami Dolphins' game vs. Bengals

MIAMI DOLPHINS

As expected, offensive tackle Jonathan Martin will miss Thursday night's game against the Cincinnati Bengals, the Miami Dolphins have made official.

Martin, listed on the injury report as having an illness, left the team Monday to seek out treatment for emotional issues, multiple sources have told the Miami Herald.

Tyson Clabo will start at right tackle in his place.

That wasn't the team's only move Thursday. The Dolphins also formally elevated wide receiver Ryan Spadola from the practice squad to their 53-man roster.

Spadola fills the spot created when Brandon Gibson was placed on injured reserve. Spadola is a 6-1, 201-pound receiver out of Lehigh.

As for Martin, he abruptly left the team after an apparent prank gone bad in the team's lunch room Monday. He hasn't been back since.

The team never explained his absence Monday or Tuesday beyond simply saying he had an illness. He was listed as doubtful on Wednesday's injury report. All of which was in compliance with league rules, the Miami Herald has learned.

For the Dolphins to avoid losing their fifth in a row in Thursday's Halloween night game, defensive end Cameron Wake is going to have to get back to his early season form.

Jonathan Martin is seeking treatment and is not expected to play Thursday. That and other problems suggest things are out of control.
