Vox Media buys Curbed Network blogs for $20M to $30M
Vox Media, the online media company that runs SB Nation sports blogs, agreed to buy Curbed Network to expand its editorial operations.
Founded in 2004 by blogger Lockhart Steele, Curbed operates three news and blog sites - Curbed.com, Eater.com and Racked.com - that cover the real estate, food and shopping scenes in large U.S. cities.
The deal is reportedly valued between $20 million to $30 million.
Vox owns three news sites covering sports (SB Nation and its 300-plus affiliated team blogs), technology (TheVerge.com) and video gaming (Polygon.com). The Washington, D.C.-based company raised $34 million from investors last month, and has been looking to expand into other topics.
