Clemson and coach Dabo Swinney have agreed to a new eight-year contract, the school announced Saturday.


The deal will keep Swinney, who is 51-23 at Clemson, with the Tigers through the 2021 season.

'Dabo is one of the top coaches not only in the ACC but in the entire nation,' athletic director Dan Radakovich said in a statement. 'His teams have succeeded on the field, in the classroom and in the community. We're excited to have him lead our program for a long time into the future.'


Clemson finished the 2013 season ranked No. 7 in the USA TODAY Sports coaches poll - after a 40-35 victory vs. Ohio State in the Orange Bowl - the Tigers' highest year-end ranking since the 1981 national championship team.

Financial terms were not disclosed, but reports are that his salary will be around $3.1 million. Swinney was paid $2,540,024 in 2013, according to the USA TODAY Sports coaches salaries database.
