'Honey Boo Boo's' Mama June Dating Sex Offender, TLC Cancels Show: June Shannon has reportedly moved on from partner Sugar Bear of TLC's 'Here Comes Honey Boo Boo' to a new man. While it is someone she knows for some time, his checkered past could put the show's future at risk.
Verdict: True! People Magazine confirmed that the man, Mark McDaniel, was convicted for aggravated child molestation and was imprisoned in June 2004. TMZ reported that McDaniel forced himself on an 8 year-old child. Said a source to People, this makes it 'a cause for serious concern by the network.'
The network responded with this statement on Oct. 23. 'TLC is not currently in production on 'Here Comes Honey Boo Boo.' We are very concerned about this new information and are reassessing the future of the series.'
The network released an updated statement on Oct. 24 that reads, 'TLC has canceled the series 'Here Comes Honey Boo Boo' and ended all activities around the series, effective immediately. Supporting the health and welfare of these remarkable children is our only priority.TLC is faithfully committed to the children's ongoing comfort and well-being.'
