Celtics Pick Up Options On Jared Sullinger, Kelly Olynyk, Tyler Zeller
The Boston Celtics have locked up their three primary big men.
The team announced after Wednesday's 121-105 win over the Brooklyn Nets that it has exercised a third-year contract option on Kelly Olynyk and fourth-year options on Jared Sullinger and Tyler Zeller.
Olynyk and Sullinger both held down spots in the starting lineup throughout the preseason and delivered in Boston's season-opening win. Olynyk led all Celtics scorers with 19 points while grabbing six rebounds, and Sullinger added 13 points and four boards. The two will be relied upon for their range and versatility, as they lack the size of a prototypical frontcourt.
Zeller, who was acquired from the Cleveland Cavaliers during the offseason, has shown much improvement since training camp. He played just six minutes against the Nets but scored six points on 3-of-4 shooting.
Sullinger and Zeller are beginning their third NBA seasons; Olynyk is beginning his second.
