Apple is allegedly planning to launch a 12.9-inch tablet called the iPad Pro next year.
A source purportedly connected to the Cupertino firm's supply chain told The Korea Times that displays for the new slate are already in production.
'Apple's local first-tier display supplier is now producing a 12.9-inch Retina Display to be used in the new iPad, which will be coming out sometime early next year; that display is now being manufactured by the supplier's plant in Korea,' said the insider.
The source went on to say that the so-called iPad Pro will feature a screen capable of a similar resolution to 4K.
'The 12.9-inch iPad will have improved picture quality... [the iPad] will provide very clear quality similar to that of UHD,' the source added.
Apple's larger iPad has also been tipped to feature the firm's A7 processor, TouchID fingerprint sensor and 4G connectivity.
This is one of several reports to claim that Apple is working on a larger-screen iPad, but the company is yet to announce any plans for future iOS hardware.
