Fewer Americans traveling for Thanksgiving dinner
Fewer Americans are expected to make a long trip for their Thanksgiving dinner in 2013.
According to AAA, 43.4 million Americans are expected to travel 50 miles or more during the Thanksgiving weekend, from Wednesday, November 27 - Sunday, December 1. This number is a decrease of about 1.5-percent from the 44 million that traveled in 2012.
A spokesperson from AAA said Wednesday will be the busiest travel day.

'While the economy continues to improve, the sluggish pace of the recovery is creating uncertainty in the minds of some consumers and therefore AAA is projecting a slight decline in the number of Thanksgiving travelers this year,' said AAA Chief Operating Officer Marshall L. Doney. 'For those traveling the good news is motorists will receive a holiday bonus in the form of lower gas prices which are at their lowest levels for the holiday since 2010.'
AAA projected that most people will hop in their cars to get to their travel destinations, as opposed to flying or riding trains. About 90 percent of Thanksgiving travelers will drive.
Those who are traveling are expected to travel further, according to a survey taken by intended travelers. On average, Americans will travel 601 miles total over the weekend. In 2012 travelers went an average of 588 miles.
