The Texans have not announced he will return to coach the team this week against the Oakland Raiders, but he has been planning to do so, the source said.

Defensive coordinator Wade Phillips served as the team's interim coach last week and in Sunday's 27-24 loss to the Arizona Cardinals.

The Texans' defeat at Arizona was their seventh straight, dropping their record to 2-7 this season.

Kubiak made an appearance near the end of practice last Thursday, visiting the team for the first time since he suffered a transient ischemic attack two weeks ago during a loss to the Indianapolis Colts.

Kubiak, 52, was released from the hospital last Tuesday and said in a statement that his doctors said he would make a full recovery.

The Houston Chronicle reported last week that, barring any setbacks, the Texans expected Kubiak to return for the Week 11 home game against the Raiders.

ESPN.com Texans reporter Tania Ganguli contributed to this report.
