There's bump watch, and there's finger watch, but no, that emphatically was not an engagement ring Katy Perry was wearing on last night's MTV EMAs red carpet.


Not that the teensy (by Hollywood standards) left-hand, fourth-finger sparkler even looked like an 'I will marry John Mayer' rock. (Is that an X marking where the real-deal dazzler will go?) But - phew - some unnamed sources have confirmed to Us Weekly that it really and truly wasn't.


'She's not engaged,' an 'insider' tells the mag. 'It was just a ring that went with the outfit,' a similarly delicate ensemble of mint Zac Posen dress and glittery Dolce & Gabbana headband.
