Ryan Lochte tears MCL in fan interaction, Brandt Snedeker sprains ACL on ...

Athletes of the world, beware: your knees are in danger from trivial, non-threatening seeming objects.
First up, Ryan Lochte. The swimmer with 11 Olympic medals, five gold, who achieved cult celebrity status and even a reality TV show for his space cadet-y answers to interview questions, was in his home state of Florida when a teenaged female fan saw him. What ensued, per USA Today, was the least Jeah moment of all time.
The five-time gold medalist encountered an excited fan, who ran at him. Lochte caught the teenage girl, but the two toppled over in the process, his representative confirmed. Lochte hit his knee on the curb, while the girl was unharmed.
That's a torn MCL and a sprained ACL. He's expected to make a full recovery, but he'll have to take a break from the pool. Personally, I understand -- as a fellow insanely good looking man of half-Cuban descent, this happens to me all the time. But over time, you attain a certain level of grace being tackled by awestruck fans -- it's clear Lochte hasn't reached that level yet.
Next, Brandt Snedeker. The winner of six PGA Tour events, including this year's RBC Canadian Open, was out taking a ride on his preferred doofy motorized self-balancing personal transportation device when disaster struck:
The injury occurred when Snedeker lost his balance on a Segway, hopped off and fell awkwardly. 'I felt a pop in my knee and pain,' said Snedeker. 'Fortunately this is a relatively minor injury and no surgery is required, so this is good news.' The 2012 FedEx Cup champion and six-time PGA Tour winner plans to undergo daily therapy for a week and have the injury reevaluated.
Snedeker was set to participate in the Australian PGA Championship, but had to withdraw.
The good news is neither guy is really in season, but both had events on the horizon. Lochte was going to represent Team USA in a Duel in the Pool against European swimmers in Glasgow next month, and Snedeker was set to participate in next month's Northwestern Mutual World Challenge at Sherwood Country Club. Their injuries were silly, but it doesn't seem like it will hurt either athlete's career drastically.
Oh, and S-E-C! S-E-C!
