USA TODAY Sports' colleges poll editor Eddie Timanus breaks down this week's winners and losers.
The top five got a bit of a shake-up this week, but the No.1 team in basketball remains the same.
Michigan State strengthened its hold on the No.1 ranking in the new USA TODAY Sports men's coaches poll. The Spartans improved to 6-0 during the week and claimed 30 of 32 first-place votes. MSU is likely to retain the top spot for at least another week, as its only action is a Friday home date with Mount St. Mary's.
