Bob Costas taking the night off from Olympics coverage after eye infection spreads
The curious case of Bob Costas' pink eye strikes again!
The NBC host has become the talk of #Sochi2014 once more as the disgusting-looking infection appears to have spread to his second peeper.
Usually sophisticated, the anchor first shocked viewers last Thursday night during his network's first prime-time round-up show.
Donning Harry Potter-style specs, the experienced reporter pre-empted speculation by revealing he was suffering from a minor infection.
'(It) should resolve itself by the weekend,' he assured viewers as the camera zoomed in to highlight the infected area.
But five days later, there's no sign of the infection going away. In fact, it's getting even worse, Fox Sports reports. Costas predictably became a Twitter trending topic during Monday night's show.
SB Nation GIF uploaded a picture of his double trouble alongside the caption: 'It would appear that Bob Costas' eye infection is not going away.'
'The parasite living in Bob Costas' left eye seems to have migrated to his right. How soon before it jumps to a new host? Matt Lauer is next,' wrote Nathan T. Wright.
And Dave Zirin added: 'Bob Costas needs to sit the next couple of plays out.....'
