How to watch the Honda Classic live online, TV schedule, radio and more

The PGA Tour swings back to Florida for the best field of the year so far. NBC also returns, adding multiple ways to take in what should be a loaded leaderboard full of the top players in the world.

For most casual golf fans, the PGA Tour's season starts in earnest this week, when the schedule heads back east for the annual Florida swing. The West Coast swing probably features the best stretch of venues, with some unique formats and classic courses, but the fields really start to bulk up in Florida.

The Florida swing starts with the Honda Classic at PGA National (Champion course), where seven of the top 10 golfers in the world will tee it up (it was eight until Justin Rose withdrew due to a nagging shoulder injury on Tuesday). Tiger Woods, Phil Mickelson, and Adam Scott -- the only three players in the top 64 to skip last week's lucrative WGC Match Play title -- will all return to the Tour at PGA National. For Woods, it's just his second PGA Tour event of the season, adding to the unofficial start of the year for most casual fans. Woods uses the Florida swing to get his game right for the Masters, also regularly teeing it up at Doral and Bay Hill, two courses he's owned throughout his career. The Honda was not a part of his annual schedule, but he's added it to the rota since moving to South Florida, living in the neighborhood of the course in Palm Beach Gardens.

The swing back east also brings the usual transition of coverage from CBS back to NBC, which opens the year broadcasting the first two events in Hawaii. That also means more 'synergy' between Golf Chanel, which carries the first two days of coverage and early hours on the weekend, and NBC, given that the two are married under that same Comcast umbrella. There's no annoying half-hour blackout of period from 2:30 to 3 p.m. on the weekends as the CBS crews set up in place of the Golf Channel folks. We get continuous coverage.

Another benefit of having two non-competing family networks back covering a tournament is that Golf Channel will once again provide their 'spotlight coverage' concurrently with the regular NBC coverage on Saturday and Sunday. The spotlight coverage is a good second-screen option, or a primary screen if you're a golf addict. This week, Golf Channel's spotlight will zero in on the 'Bear Trap,' the difficult and deciding three-hole stretch from Nos. 15 to 17. There's water trouble on all three holes, particularly at the two par-3s (15 and 17), so it's usually a pretty exciting stretch and often decides who won't be winning. The spotlight coverage does not deviate from those three holes, but does add different graphics around the screen with constant stats updates.

Golf Channel will be putting the infamous Trackman technology in play this year to provide driving stats on all three holes, and the tracer is pretty cool for the two tee shots into the par-3 greens (or hazards).

In addition to those TV options, Golf Channel and NBC will have their typical simulcast stream up and running on their LiveExtra service. Aside from that, PGATour.com will also bring back their @Live streaming for some of the featured holes at PGA National. That starts bright and early each day well before TV and the simulcast streams.
