Eva Mendes knows exactly why people think she might be expecting with her longtime beau Ryan Gosling.
'It all started because I didn't want to go through the scanners at the airport. You know, those X-ray scanners, which are really creepy,' Mendes explained to Ellen DeGeneres on Wednesday's The Ellen DeGeneres Show.
'They basically see you naked, right?' said Mendes. 'And not only that, but there's a radiation aspect to it, so I always opt out. I always ask for a personal pat-down. I don't mean in person, I meant in private because they can take you. Ladies, I want you to know that they can take you in private, they can take you into an area.'
'Good idea. Good idea. That's the way to get a Valentine,' DeGeneres joked. 'Even better, you can go to an area.'
Mendes says that her request for privacy is nothing new - she never goes through airport scanners. Because of that, some people may have falsely assumed that she was with child. 'That was a good enough reason to say, 'Hey,' ' Mendes said.
DeGeneres, however, wasn't letting up. 'No, you're not pregnant. I know. I just wanted to give you the chance to announce if it's a boy or girl.'
Mendes, a good sport, did confirm one romantic detail - how she'll be spending Valentine's Day. Not with Gosling, 33, but alone with a giant carb fest and a good cry.
'I'm not a big Valentine's Day person. I'll probably just order a deep dish and watch The Notebook or something,' Mendes shared, name-checking the cult-fave romantic drama that happens to star ... Gosling. 'Just cry, weep.'
