Lodwick thankful, honored to carry flag in Opening Ceremony
SOCHI - In Sochi Russia more than 40,000 people are filling the Olympic Park with opening ceremonies set to start this evening.
An already visible security presence has been stepped up even more with start of the 2014 Winter Games.
The celebration will take place in the Fisht stadium. A Denver company, Populous, designed it.
The honor of carrying the American flag in Opening Ceremony was awarded to a skier from Colorado.
Members of team USA vote for the athlete they want to represent them.
It will be 6 Time Olympian and Steamboat Springs resident Todd Lodwick.
Lodwick says he's following in a long tradition of amazing athletes.
9NEWS reporter Matt Renoux talked with Lodwick shortly after the announcement. He and Cheryl Preheim have this report from Sochi.
