The annual gathering of motorheads is nearly here as the New York International Auto Show kicks off at the Javits Center on Friday.
All the major car companies are in town to show off the latest models and developments in automotive technology.
More than one million visitors are expected to pass through the Javits Center over the next week.
Event organizers say as the years go by, more and more emphasis is placed on innovations in fuel efficiency and environmental preservation.
'We actually have a ride and drive of a fuel cell, so people can get into electric cars, fuel cell cars, and actually experience what the new technologies are all about here at the show,' said New York International Auto Show President Mark Schienberg.
Nearly a thousand vehicles will be on display for the public starting Friday. Among them, the Toyota I-Road personal electric vehicle.
'It has a top speed around 28 miles an hour, a range of 31 miles and it's going to be available in a car share program next year in Greenoble, France and Toyota City in Japan,' said Wade Hoyt of Toyota.
If you have $2 million to spare, you can think about purchasing a Koenigsegg Agera R or a Bugatti Veyron, two of the priciest cars at the show.
More affordable vehicles include the Chrysler 200, which will find a parking spot for you at the mall and basically park itself too.
'We think it's a really cool feature. It will actually back the car into the parking space,' said Kathy Graham of Chrysler.
The show also features the first appearance of Italian sports car maker Alpha Romeo in the U.S. market since 1995 with its nifty 4C model.
'Exotic Italian design, mid engine, zero to 60 in four and a half seconds,' noted Jiyan Cadiz of Alfa Romeo.
Ford is also celebrating the 50th anniversary of the Mustang in style by showing off its Limited Edition 2015 Mustang GT.
The special edition hot rod features chrome highlights around the grille, windows, and tail lights.
It also has a simulated gas cap on the back in homage to the original 1964 model, and comes in automatic or manual transmission.
The company is releasing a limited edition model of the car to celebrate.
'We're going to have a limited run, 1964 units really, to celebrate the birthday that all started here back at the Worlds Fair back in '64,' said Steve Ling of Ford.
The sticker price for the full-size model has not yet been announced.
