The Giants and the Padres meet for game two of their series.

The San Francisco Giants and the San Diego Padres face off on Tuesday at AT&T Park for game two of their National League West series.

The San Francisco Giants continue to lead the NL West but their lead shrunk a little on Monday as they fell to the Padres. Brandon Hicks hit a home run, Michael Morse had three hits, and Buster Posey had two hits as the Giants scored four runs on nine hits. Starting pitcher Madison Bumgarner allowed seven hits and five runs while striking out five over 5.0 innings to take the loss and fall to 2-3 on the season. For Tuesday's rematch the Giants start Matt Cain who is still looking for his first win of the year. For the season Cain has allowed 31 hits and 15 earned runs while striking out 25 over 31 innings for a 0-3 record and a 4.35 ERA.

The San Diego Padres are hanging around in the NL West race and they got a game more into the race as they beat the first place Giants on Monday. Rene Rivera had two hits including a home run, Jace Peterson had two hits, and Everth Cabrera and Cameron Maybin each added hits as the Padres scored six runs on nine hits. Starting pitcher Tyson Ross allowed eight hits and four runs while striking out four over 5.1 innings to get the win and raise his record to 3-3 for the season and Huston Street earned his 10 th save. For Tuesday's game the Padres start Eric Stults who had a no decision in his last outing. For the season Stults has allowed 34 hits and 12 runs while striking out 12 over 26 innings for a 1-2 record and a 4.15 ERA.

San Francisco is 4-1 in their last five games, 6-2 in their last eight home games, and 5-16 in Cain's last 21 starts. San Diego is 2-5 following a win, 2-6 in game two of a series, and 5-12 in Stults' last 17 road starts. San Diego is 7-19 in their last 26 games in San Francisco.

Cain has struggled for the past two seasons to get wins and he faces a lot less opposition here than usual in Stults so look for him to get the support and the win at home against a team he traditionally pitches well against.
