It's Official: Gwen Stefani Joins The Voice as New Coach!

It's official: Gwen Stefani is joining The Voice as a new coach for season seven. The former singer announced the news on Instagram with a photo of her own version of The Voice's iconic hand gesture and a caption reading, 'It's true!'


Stefani will join Pharrell Williams as a new coach on the hit NBC singing competition. Christina Aguilera, who served as a coach for seasons one-three and five, tweeted the news and congratulated the singer. 'So excited to have you join #TheVoice squad @GwenStefani! Welcome to our crazy fam! Kisses- xoxo #blondesdoitbest,' she tweeted.


Adam Levine and Blake Shelton are also expected to return to the spinning red chairs of the NBC series.

Aguilera, who is pregnant with her second child, previously served as a coach alongside Levine, Shelton and CeeLo Green. Green announced he was done with the singing competition on an episode of The Ellen DeGeneres Show. and also serve as coaches.


News of Stefani's involvement with The Voice broke in mid-April, with a source telling E! News she was on board, but the deal was not official just yet.


The Voice remains one of NBC's most-popular series. The sixth season premiere had close to 16 million viewers and a 4.7 rating in the coveted 18-49 demographic.
