Cormier
A light heavyweight bout between Daniel Cormier and Dan Henderson will serve as the co-main event at UFC 173 on May 24 in Las Vegas.
UFC president Dana White confirmed the news to ESPN.com on Wednesday.
'There's been a lot of talk about whether this fight was going to happen and where it would land,' White said. 'We got it done -- May 24 in Las Vegas, co-main event.'
Henderson (30-11) recorded a comeback third-round TKO win over Mauricio Rua in March. The win snapped a three-fight losing streak.
The 43-year-old had been approved the use of testosterone-replacement-therapy (TRT) for that bout, but will not be allowed to use it moving forward as the Nevada State Athletic Commission banned TRT in combat sports in February.
'Now that this whole TRT thing is over, Dan Henderson needed to get back in Nevada and take a test,' White said. 'His levels came in perfect and we were able to get it done.'
Cormier (14-0) is coming off a first-round TKO over Patrick Cummins at UFC 170 in February. The bout was Cormier's first at light heavyweight. All 13 of his previous wins had come as a heavyweight.
A bantamweight title fight between Renan Barao and T.J. Dillashaw is scheduled to headline the UFC 173 pay-per-view.
