Flavor Flav Has Pleaded Guilty To Battery Charges

By Claire Rutter On April 15, 2014

Public Enemy rapper Flavor Flav has pleaded guilty to a battery case that stems from 2012, to avoid facing felony charges that could have put him behind bars for a very long time.

The 55-year-old rapper took a plea deal on Monday (April 14) to reduce his sentence over a charge that dates back to October 2012, which happened in Las Vegas.

Flavor Flav, whose real name if William Johnathan Drayton Jr, was accused of threatening his fiance's son with a butcher's knife which means that he originally faced felony charges of child endangerment with a weapon and assault, which could have seen him behind bars for up to 12 years if he was found guilty.

According to the Associated Press, before Flavor Flav took the plea deal at the Clark Country District Court, the charges were downgraded to misdemeanour counts of attempted, with a judge sentencing him to probation plus four months of counselling.

The new arrangement means that Flavor Flav will now have to complete a year of probation and attend domestic violence classes along with his fiance's son that he threatened, reports the Las Vegas Sun.

Since October 2012, the family has now reconciled and have been seeking help with their own counselling sessions.

In court, Flavor Flav spoke about the teen and reportedly told the judge: 'I love my son and my son loves me too.'
