The Rangers have placed third baseman Adrian Beltre on the 15-day DL with a left quad injury, the team announced. The move is retroactive to April 9.
Beltre, 35, has been nursing the quad problem for a few days now and has not played since Tuesday, hence the retroactive DL assignment. He also missed a few days with the issue in spring training.
In eight games this season, Beltre has gone 8-for-28 (.286) with three doubles and four runs driven in. He also more walks (five) than strikeouts (two).
Righty Hector Noesi was added to the roster to replace Beltre. He was acquired from the Mariners for cash on Saturday. Noesi has a 5.64 ERA in 191 1/3 big league innings.
