Twitter Acquires Social Data Company Gnip


Twitter said on Tuesday it has acquired Gnip, a provider of social data that has partnered with the social media giant for the past four years. Financial terms of the deal were not disclosed. The company's products are designed to help clients more easily analyze data across public Tweets. 'We believe Gnip has only begun to scratch the surface,' wrote Jana Messerschmidt, Twitter's vice president of global business development and platform, in a blog post. 'Together we plan to offer more sophisticated data sets and better data enrichments.' Chris Moody, the CEO of Gnip, said the acquisition will give his company the resources and infrastructure to expand. 'We'll be able to support a broader set of use cases across a diverse set of users including brands, universities, agencies and developers,' wrote Moody. Read more
