All eyes surely on Jeter as All

Derek Jeter has said he doesn't really expect too much attention this week. He said last year's All-Star Game focused on Mariano Rivera partially because the game was being played in New York, and with this year's game in Minnesota, the spotlight won't necessarily shine on a out-of-town player.

'Yeah, keep thinking that,' Joe Girardi said, laughing. 'Maybe he's trying some wishful thinking trying to get it on someone else.'

All eyes will surely be on Jeter when the early All-Star festivities begin this afternoon. That's when the players meet with the media and managers announce their starting lineups and starting pitchers. If only because of who he is and what he's done in his career, there seems to be a good chance Jeter will be hitting near the top of the order for the American League. Maybe batting second between Mike Trout and Miguel Cabrera?

Rick Hummel reports that there are some hints Adam Wainwright could be the National League's starting pitcher. That could be the first pitcher Jeter faces in his final All-Star game.

'I've never faced him,' Wainwright said. 'That would be fun.'

Could Jeter have a Cal Ripken moment in him?
