Five 'Dawn of the Planet of the Apes' Art Posters + Vice Prequel Shorts
Hail Ceasar! With the release of Matt Reeves' Dawn of the Planet of the Apes just a few weeks away, Fox is letting loose all of its marketing, and that includes a bevy of beautiful artistic posters for the sci-fi sequel. A number of different websites have recently unveiled posters for Dawn of the Apes, and along with it their rave reviews. I've seen the movie already and it's outstanding, the best summer movie (so far) and an astonishing achievement, with powerful emotion and incredible action. These posters, by artists Mainger, Janee Meadows, Zombie Yeti, Matt Needle and Orlando Arocena, just hint at the complexities below the surface of this excellent sequel. I'm glad we have some cool art to go along with this stellar movie.
Here's the new batch of poster art I've found online, debuted by various sites online (click each one for the original source). All of these are fantastic additions to the official posters released so far. View them below:
That last one might just be the best. For more art and the latest updates, follow @ApesMovies on Twitter.
In addition to all of these new posters above, Vice has presented a sponsored series of videos highlighting Dawn of the Planet of the Apes and focusing on the 10 years between these two movies. At the end of Rise of the Planet of the Apes, the 'simian flu' virus was starting to spread around the world and would eventually kill off most of the human population, leaving just a few pockets of survivors. These shorts, each made by a different director, explore the progression. Like this one: 'Five years after the Simian Flu all but wiped out humanity, an orphaned teenage girl survives by bartering things she has stolen from dead people's homes.'
Dawn Of The Planet Of The Apes presents a series inspired by the 10 years between The Rise and The Dawn of the Planet of the Apes, featuring shorts directed by Isaiah Seret, Daniel Thron, and 'thirty-two'. Here's the three consecutive videos about the time, focusing on the one, five and ten-year marks in the pandemic.

A growing nation of genetically evolved apes led by Caesar is threatened by a band of human survivors. They reach a fragile peace, but it proves short-lived, as both sides are brought to the brink of a war that will determine who will emerge as Earth's dominant species. Besides Serkis, the apes cast includes Judy Greer as Cornelia & Toby Kebbell as Koba. Dawn of the Planet of the Apes is the sequel to Rupert Wyatt's revival of the sci-fi franchise Rise of the Planet of the Apes. Directing is Matt Reeves, of Let Me In and Cloverfield previously, from a script written by Mark Bomback, Scott Z. Burns, Rick Jaffa & Amanda Silver. 20th Century Fox has Dawn of the Planet of the Apes scheduled for a 3D release on July 11th this summer.
