Gearbox Software reveals battle arena multiplayer game Battleborn
Battleborn has been announced as a new franchise from Borderlands studio Gearbox Software.
The first-person shooter is a battle arena-based multiplayer game similar to DOTA 2 and League of Legends.
All players start on an equal playing field before fast-paced levelling sees each unique character gain new abilities in five-versus-five matches fleshed out with computer-controlled minions.
The intergalactic story sees a universe of diverse heroes, from an immortal samurai to a minigun-wielding giant, competing over the last star, with each character set to play radically differently from those in other first-person games.
' Borderlands was an experience gamers didn't even know they wanted, wrapping a fusion of first-person shooting and loot-grabbing RPG elements in a living comic book art style,' read the preview on this month's Game Informer cover story.
'Gearbox wants to change your perception of genres once again with Battleborn.'
Battleborn will be a retail release on PS4, Xbox One and PC.
