Utah Jazz: Brandon Rush headed back to Golden State
His lone season in Utah was a difficult one.
Brandon Rush struggled - at first with his knee, still mending after a season-ending ACL tear the year before, and then with his mind as he got lost in the Jazz's rotation.
Now the 29-year-old is getting a do-over in the last place he tasted basketball success.
Rush on Wednesday agreed to terms with the Golden State Warriors, where he played from 2011-13. The deal is for two years, including a player option for the second year, according to his agent.
Rush shot 45 percent from 3 in 2011-12 with the Warriors.
But the new deal came only after showing teams his progress during a Tuesday workout in Las Vegas.
'I think he showed everybody his game is coming back,' agent Mark Bartelstein said. 'He's gotten more and more explosive week by week.'
Rush was traded to the Jazz last July in a salary dump, along with Richard Jefferson and Andris Biedrins. But he never found his footing in Utah.
After making his debut with the team on Nov. 5, the guard returned to the bench for nearly a month, saying he was uncomfortable with the Jazz's offense. Later, Rush said the problem was with his mind.
'I think it's just a mental thing right now,' he said last season. 'Everything else is physically fine. It's just getting over that hump.'
In total, Rush played 38 games with the Jazz, averaging just over 2 points an outing. By the end of the season, he had fallen out of coach Ty Corbin's rotation entirely.
