Giants' Victor Cruz leaves with torn patellar tendon
PHILADELPHIA - New York Giants wide receiver Victor Cruz was carted off the field in the third quarter of Sunday night's game against the Philadelphia Eagles with what the team announced was a torn patellar tendon.
With New York trailing 20-0, the Giants faced fourth down at the Philadelphia 3-yard line when Cruz leaped in the back of the end zone in a attempt to catch a pass from quarterback Eli Manning.
Cruz was clutching at his right knee as he was coming down. Teammates gathered around while he was being attended to by the Giants medical staff.
Cruz, a fifth-year pro, was a Pro Bowler in 2012. He entered Sunday night's game with 21 catches for 321 yards and a touchdown. He added two catches for 16 yards before the injury.
