How to bet the World Series

Best value plays for Royals-Giants Fall Classic, plus game-by-game strategy

LAS VEGAS -- This has been a wild MLB postseason -- and not just because two wild-card teams are squaring off in the World Series.

The San Francisco Giants and Kansas City Royals are the last two teams standing after the underdog has won every postseason series (some people forget that the Baltimore Orioles were a series underdog despite having home-field advantage over the Detroit Tigers).

It's been a great postseason for yours truly, as I had San Fran in both of its series wins -- they were plus-140 against the Washington Nationals in the divisional and then plus-115 over the St. Louis Cardinals in the National League Championship Series. I haven't been on Kansas City, but fortunately I didn't bet against them in their plus-175 divisional series win over the Los Angeles Angels or their plus-115 win over Baltimore in the American League Championship Series.

So, it's been all dogs, but as of Sunday night there wasn't an underdog in the World Series as the Westgate Las Vegas SuperBook had it at pick 'em with minus-110 on each side. And they weren't alone, as every other Vegas book was at pick 'em on the Don Best screen as of this writing except the Treasure Island, which had KC as a slight minus-120 fave.

Now, I admit a bias here, as the Giants were my top value pick in the MLB season betting preview back in March, but let's take a closer look at the matchup and where you should consider putting your money.
