iOS 8.0.2 Review for iPhone 6 , 6 Plus, 5S, iPad Air, iPad Mini With Retina

On Sept 17, Apple had released the iOS 8 OS. The new iOS build comes preloaded on the iPhone 6 and iPhone 6 Plus phablet and even the future iProducts will come preloaded with the same OS.


Just after releasing the iOS 8 to the users, Apple had rolled out a minor iOS 8.0.1 update. The update was supposed to fix couple of bugs that came with the final edition of OS. However, after installing the update, all the iPhone 6 and iPhone 6 Plus users started complaining that the new update brought multiple problems.


The iPhone 6 users started complaining that after the iOS 8.0.1 update, they were unable to establish connection with the cellular network. After the update, it kept on showing 'Searching...' where the network bars are located on the screen. Another issue that came along with the iOS 8.0.1 was that the Touch ID fingerprint sensor stopped working.



When Apple came to know about it, the iOS 8.0.1 was stopped and was no longer accessible to the public. Even though the iOS 8.0.1 has been brought to various compatible devices that run on iOS 8, only iPhone 6 and iPhone 6 Plus were facing the said issue. Around 40,000 users were affected by the failed iOS 8.0.1 update.


Apple replaced the iOS 8.0.1 update with a more stable iOS 8.0.2 update within 24 hours. The iOS 8.0.2 update fixes a wide range of problems that came along with iOS 8. Here they are:


* Fixes the issue of not being able to connect to cellular network and malfunctioning of Touch ID fingerprint sensor on iPhone 6 and iPhone 6 Plus * Bug fix for making HealthKit apps available on the Apple App Store. * Fixes an issue in which third party keyboards could get unselected after entering a passcode. * It fixes the bug which does not allow some apps to access images stored on the Photo Library. * Fix makes the Reachability feature more stable on the new iPhone 6 handsets. * Addresses the issue of usage of cellular data while receiving text message or MMS. * Improves the support for making in-app purchases in Family Sharing for the Ask to Buy feature. * Issue of not being able to restore ringtones from iCloud backups has been addressed. * Fixes the problem of not being able to upload images and videos from Safari browser.


Even after installing the iOS 8.0.2 update, users have started complaining about newer issues like poor battery life, issues with iMessage, Facetime, and Mail, and many more. However, there are many users who are not facing any issue after the new update.


After installing the iOS 8.0.2 update on iPhone 6, all the apps performed well without any issue. It has been found that the update does not have any negative impact on the battery life. Even all connectivity options like 3G, 4G and Wi-Fi are working normally. There is no reason to be skeptical about installing iOS 8.0.2 on iPhone 6.


Even though most of the apps are working fine, some users have complained about freezing in some of the apps. The battery life of the iPhone 6 Plus has not been affected by iOS 8.0.2 build installation. Also, there are has been connectivity issues cropping up for iOS 8.0.2.



Some users are experiencing problems of remaining stuck in landscape or portrait mode. The issue occurs while using an app. Users facing such an issue have to quit the app and start multi-tasking and the quit the app that is encountering the issue.


Even though there are minor issues associated with iOS 8.0.2 on iPhone 6 Plus, you should install the update on your iPhone phablet as it brings enhanced support for HealthKit and third party keyboards. If you are still skeptical about installing iOS 8.0.2, you can wait longer for the iOS 8.0.3 to arrive in couple of weeks from now.



It is quite simple and easy to install iOS 8.0. 2 update on the iPhone 5S and there has been no issues of apps crashing after the installation of iOS 8.0.2. The battery life and the connectivity features of iPhone 5S have not been impacted with iOS 8.0.2 update. Some users have complained that they are unable to connect to the Wi-Fi networks. It does not seem to be a major issue as it can be fixed by resetting network settings.


The installation process on iPad Air can be somewhat time consuming. The iOS 8.0.2 is not a major update and it shouldn't take around 20 minutes to get it onboard.

Usually, Apple's iOS x.1 updates bring important enhancements and tweaks to the iOS. We can expect the same for iOS 8.1. Rumors claim that the iOS 8.1 may arrive in October. If this happens to come to true, Apple will have a very busy month as it will be launching the OS X Yosemite, the new iMac with Retina, and arrival of successor model for iPad Air.
