Apple responds to FireEye's report about 'Masque Attack' iOS vulnerability

In response to the 'Masque Attack' iOS vulnerability which has recently been detected by security research firm FireEye, tech giant Apple told iOS users not to worry about potential attacks exploiting the vulnerability.

In a statement released to iMore, Apple said that the Masque Attack iOS vulnerability should not be a cause of worry for iOS users who have installed apps only from the company's official App Store or from other trusted parties, such as the organizations they are employed with.

Despite the fact that the FireEye report about the ominous-sounding Masque Attack iOS cyber bug was somewhat alarming, Apple has asserted in its statement that, thus far, it is not aware of any iOS user affected by the exploit of the vulnerability.

With Masque Attack iOS vulnerability potentially giving hackers the ability to steal iOS users' sensitive data by enticing them to download malicious apps through links via the web, email, or text messages, Apple has clearly said in its statement to iMore and other news outlets: 'We're not aware of any customers that have actually been affected by this attack.'

The statement released by Apple indicates that although the company has acknowledged the existence of the iOS vulnerability reported by FireEye, the company is evidently trying to downplay its reach.
