Ohio State quarterback JT Barrett carted off field

The Ohio State Buckeyes were rocked in August when quarterback Braxton Miller was injured and required season-ending surgery, but backup J.T. Barrett has emerged as a legitimate Heisman Trophy candidate and has led the Buckeyes to a 10-1 record. Against the Wolverines Saturday, Barrett threw one touchdown pass and ran for two more, and the Buckeyes led 28-21 in the fourth quarter - but he was forced to leave the game after suffering an injury on a run. Barrett was tackled by two Wolverines and landed on a third, and his right leg twisted as he fell to the ground.

Barrett remained on the ground, and his leg was placed in an air cast before he was carted off the field. He saluted the crowd as he was driven into the tunnel. The injury forced sophomore Cardale Jones, who had attempted just 14 passes all season, to come in at quarterback.

Barrett received an outpouring of support on Twitter after leaving the game.

Sick watching this in Columbus. The job Barrett has done leading Buckeyes back over last two months near the top in college football.
