JT Barrett suffers fractured ankle
COLUMBUS, Ohio -- Ohio State starting quarterback and Heisman Trophy candidate J.T. Barrett was carted off the field with a right leg injury during the fourth quarter of Saturday's game against Michigan.
The redshirt freshman, who added three touchdowns to his nation-leading total of 42 total scores accounted for entering the game, appeared to have his leg buckle under him while being tackled on a rush to start the fourth quarter at the Horseshoe.
The training staff immediately came out to attend to Barrett, placing a cast on his leg and carting him to the locker room. He clapped once during the ride to the tunnel and waved to the crowd before being replaced by backup Cardale Jones.
His status moving forward is not immediately known. The No. 6 Buckeyes will play next Saturday in the Big Ten championship game.
