A's trade star 3B Josh Donaldson to Blue Jays
In a surprising five-player deal that marks the go-for-broke mentality of one club and the possible rebuilding of another, the Oakland Athletics traded All-Star third baseman Josh Donaldson to the Toronto Blue Jays Friday Night.
The Blue Jays sent oft-injured third baseman Bret Lawrie, pitching prospects Sean Nolin and Kendall Graveman and minor league shortstop Franklin Barrett back to Oakland as A's general manager Billy Beane once again embarks on an aggressive re-tooling of his team.
