Taking a page from Johnny Carson's playbook, producers of the 'Late Late Show' will have a merry band of guests of hosts filling in until James Corden takes the chair on March 9.
Comedian Drew Carey will helm the first week the CBS show is back on the air after current host Craig Ferguson departs next month, as well as the final week before Corden's debut, Deadline reports.
'Anchorman' director Judd Apatow will also get the chance to show off his late-night chops, as well as actors Will Arnett, Wayne Brady, Jim Gaffigan and Sean Hayes.
And, in a curious twist, musician John Mayer was also chosen to fill-in.
Some early buzz around the announcement centered on the fact that all of the guest hosts thus-far are men.
However, according to Vulture, CBS brass was still in talks with some women about potential filling in during the gap.
Ferguson, who decided to leave the show after CBS didn't select him to succeed David Letterman, is signing off on Dec. 19.
Carey's first run will span between Jan. 5 and Jan. 9.
