Minions Official Trailer Released! See it here! BANANA!!!

Ladies and gentlemen, the little yellow guys have returned in this new trailer for the much-anticipated Minions movie.

Serving as a prequel to the billion-dollar Despicable Me franchise, audiences will be treated to an epic origin story of the fan-favorite characters.

According to the trailer, the minions have been around since the beginning of time. From voracious T-Rexes to tyrannical pharaohs to Napoleon himself, they have been trying (and failing) to assist the most villainous figures throughout the ages. In fact, it is literally part of their nature to serve the most despicable masters, and they apparently cannot survive without doing so. After many failures, three minions named Kevin, Stuart and Bob decide to find the biggest, baddest villain for their tribe to serve.

Eventually, they find themselves in New York City in 1968 (42 Years B.G. - Before Gru). The trailer doesn't give an idea of what will happen next, but the trailer certainly does show a lot of promise.

For the critics who think the minions are nothing more than funny sidekicks, this trailer should even appease you. It seems to show a lot of promise, humor, and most importantly, heart, when it comes to telling the minions' story.

The trailer gives off an interesting feel, almost like a nature documentary with the minions as the subjects. The fact that the majority of the film will take place in the 1960s will open the door for a nice retro feel, much like The Iron Giant in the '50s, and Dark Shadows in the '70s. Expect plenty of lava lamps, hippies, and tie-dye.

As typical of animated movies, it will feature an all-star cast including Sandra Bullock ( Gravity, The Heat), Jon Hamm ( Mad Men, Million Dollar Arm), Michael Keaton ( Birdman, Beatlejuice), Allison Janney ( Juno, Get On Up) and Steve Coogan ( Tropic Thunder, Philomena).

If the huge sales of Minions merchandise and the lucrative box office numbers of Despicable Me 2 are any indication, expect this movie to be a smash hit when it's released to theaters.

You can check out Minions on July 10th, 2015.
