The Blue Devils (7-1, 3-1 Atlantic Coast Conference) held Pitt to a field goal to start the second overtime and then went 25 yards in four plays, with Sirk's second touchdown of the day ending it.

Pitt (4-5, 2-3) had a chance to win in regulation, driving 71 yards to set up Chris Blewitt for a 26-yard field goal attempt. The Blue Devils called two timeouts to let Blewitt think about it, and he missed badly to the left.

James Conner ran for a career-high 263 yards and three touchdowns for Pitt (4-5, 2-3) but did not touch the ball in the second overtime.

Corey Clement, who ran for 131 yards, added touchdown runs of 43 and 36 yards, and Rafael Gaglianone kicked three field goals as the Badgers dominated in sending the Scarlet Knights' homecoming crowd home early.

Army (2-6) has not won the trophy, emblematic of supremacy among the three service academies, since it won its sixth in 1996.

It was the 49th meeting between the service academy rivals, which both rely on the running game. The Falcons lead the series against Army, 34-14-1, and have won 16 of the last 18 in the series.
