Turnovers hurting Raiders early in Seattle

As heavy underdogs at Seattle, the Raiders likely needed to limit mistakes to have their best shot at upsetting the Seahawks.

Instead, miscues have plagued the Raiders, who find themselves in a 17-3 hole late in the second quarter despite some strong play from their defense.

Raiders rookie quarterback Derek Carr has been picked twice, leading to 10 Seahawks points. On the first interception, Seahawks linebacker Bruce Irvin dropped into coverage, deflected the pass, hauled it in and returned for a 35-yard score.

Then, on the Raiders' next series, Seahawks cornerback Richard Sherman picked Carr, taking it back 22 yards to the Oakland 18, which set up a field goal.

The Seahawks' offense has been stuck in neutral, gaining just 65 yards on 26 plays. But it hasn't mattered thus far, for Oakland is in a giving mood, and Seattle is in a taking one.
