Sony announces Alpha 7, Apha 7R and RX100 cameras
Giving a tough time to its competitors, Sony has announced 3 new cameras in its line up. These include the Sony RX10, Alpha 7 and Alpha 7R.
The Alpha 7 and 7R all the world's first full frame mirrorless cameras with interchangeable lens system. The Alpha 7 commands a price tag of $1,700 and has to offer a 1 inch 24.3 megapixel CMOS sensor.The Alpha 7R on the other hand, for a significantly higher price tag of $2,300 comes with a 36.3 megapixel CMOS sensor instead and skips on the low pass filter. Other specs are quite similar, with both the phones packing BIONZ X processor, an ISO cap of 25,600, XGA OLED viewfinder, 3 inch 1.23 million LCD, Wi-Fi as well as NFC. The camera support the lenses designed for NEX series, although you'll be getting significantly cropped images using those lenses. Sony is currently offering five new E-mount lenses to take advantage of the full frame sensor, with more being added in the coming months. Among accessories that can be purchased for the cameras, there's a vertical grip (VG-C1EM) for $300, while LA-EA3 adapter can be picked for $200 to add compatibility for A-mount lenses. LA-EA4 on the other hand adds ultra-fast focusing for $350.
The other camera that was announced by the company is the Sony RX10. Similar to the RX100 Mark 1, it packs a 20.2MP 1 inch full frame CMOS sensor. It comes with the same BIONZ X processor as the above two and packs a 24-200mm Zeiss lens along that offers a constant aperture of f/2.8 throughout the entire range. For $1,300, the camera offers 1080/60p video recording, OLED EVF, 3 inch 1.23 million dot LCD, magnesium steel alloy body and built in WiFi. The camera can be considered as an attractive upgrade for point and shoot owners and even some DSLR users.
