Giants links: GM Jerry Reese falls on his sword, sort of

For those of you hoping to get some definitive answers from general manager Jerry Reese during his annual state-of-the-team, bye-week news conference yesterday, all you received was a performance that would have made Adrian Peterson proud.

Reese, the author of two Super Bowls, handled a media eager to grill him over the team's historically bad start the way Peterson handles NFL defenses.

'Whatever you (the media) say is wrong is right,' Reese said, disarming reporters from the outset and admitting he can mount little defense for his team's 0-6 start.

Reese, who boldly put everyone on notice at the outset of the season, was asked about his decisions along the offensive and defensive lines, linebacker and running back. He was questioned about the failure of several of his draft picks to develop and if his offensive and defensive coordinators have been in place too long. Reporters tried to pin him down on coach Tom Coughlin's future.

Nothing. Nada. Zero.

Reese's biggest decision moving forward is whether Coughlin will remain coach. While Reese was non-committal on the future of the 67-year-old Coughlin, who may be facing a rebuilding job next season, the GM was effusive in his praise of the veteran coach.

He credited Coughlin for holding the team together at 0-6. He said Coughlin hasn't forgotten how to coach. He said he and Coughlin meet regularly and those meetings have run the emotional gamut. He said Coughlin's age is a non-issue.

We have several posts on Reese's press conference embedded in this intro and more below. Read them all and let us know what you think of what you heard from Reese.
