Beyonce wows Walmart shoppers with generous holiday surprise

Mrs. Carter? Try Mrs. Claus.

Beyoncé shocked holiday shoppers in Tewksbury, Mass. Friday evening when she not-so-casually stopped by the local Walmart to pick up a copy of her latest album, 'Beyoncé,' which hit stores that day after an exclusive overnight release on iTunes a week prior.

While she was there, Bey also picked out some toys for her 23-month-old daughter with Jay Z, Blue Ivy, and merrily greeted fellow customers.

But an even bigger surprise came at the check-out counter, when the singer took over the store intercom.

'Hello, Walmart shoppers... It's Beyoncé,' she announced, 'and I stopped by the store today because my record just arrived. I wanted to give everyone a little gift. For everyone in the store right now, the first $50 of your holiday gifts are on me. Merry, Merry Christmas, from Beyoncé.'

The store erupted in cheers, and a beaming Beyoncé rang up gift cards for 750 people, according to Boston.com, totaling $37,500. 'Tis the season!
