DETROIT (AP) -- The lights are back on for almost all of the 666,000 Michigan utility customers blacked out by an ice storm that hit the state more than a week ago.
Michigan authorities blame at least five deaths on the storm, three killed in crashes and two who died from carbon monoxide fumes from emergency generators.
The latest figures from three of the state's largest power companies say the number of those still offline was about 4,900 on Sunday.
DTE Energy Co. says 1,600 of its 210,000 affected homes and businesses remained blacked out early Sunday.
Jackson-based CMS Energy Corp. says 'essentially all' its 416,000 affected customers are back online, while the Lansing Board of Water & Light says about 3,300 of its 40,000 affected customers were still out.
