Clawson led Bowling Green to a 10-3 record and MAC Championship, knocking off previously undefeated Northern Illinois in the MAC title game on Friday night. Jeremy Fowler wrote Monday that Wake Forest interviewed Clawson along with Ball State's Pete Lembo in the last week.
A press conference to introduce Clawson is expected for Tuesday, according to the Winston-Salem Journal.
Before arriving at Bowling Green, Clawson was the head coach at Fordham, Richmond and offensive coordinator at Tennessee for one season (2008). Clawson has a 32-31 record with the Falcons, with two previous bowl appearances (2009, 2012) and 18 wins in the last two seasons.
