Kenyan actress and filmmaker Lupita Nyong'o nominated for Golden Globe
It was just yesterday when Capital Lifestyle Magazine shared the news of one of 2013's breakout stars, Lupita Nyong'o, receiving a Screen Actors Guild awards nomination for her supporting role in 12 Years a Slave. It seems that there's more to celebrate as the Kenyan actress and filmmaker has landed a Golden Globe nomination for her American film debut in Steve McQueen's film where she plays a brutalized slave.
Also nominated for Best Supporting Actress in a Motion Picture are: Sally Hawkins, Blue Jasmine; Jennifer Lawrence, American Hustle; Julia Roberts, August Osage County; and June Squibb, Nebraska.
Lupita's co-star, British actor Chiwetel Ejiofor also was acknowledged for his role as Solomon Northup, a free black man who is kidnapped and sold in the same film, in the Best Actor in a motion picture, drama category.
Congratulations Lupita!
