Firefighters from multiple towns were called to the foreclosed home owned by former KISS guitarist Ace Frehley late Saturday morning after someone reported smoke coming from the building.
The stone house, in the Yorktown Heights suburb of New York, was heavily damaged by the flames, which burned the roof, reports the Journal News.
The 62-year-old musician had been fighting foreclosure on the property in Westchester County Court for months and was not living in the home, according to the report. It is not known where Frehley was when the fire broke out or what caused the blaze.

The blaze was primarily on the second floor and firefighters were on the scene into the evening.
No one was home when the fire broke out, though a resident arrived while firefighters were there.
A neighbor said a caretaker had been living at the house and the Red Cross helped a resident find emergency lodging.
The 2,441-square-foot house, which has few windows, was at one time as a recording studio and was converted into a two-story, three-bedroom, three-bath house. It sits on three acres of land.
Frehley is still listed as the owner of the single-family home, valued at $541,516, though the rocker bought the house in 2000 for $650,000 and refinanced it in 2006 with a loan for $735,000.
U.S. Bank National Association, the issuer of his mortgage, foreclosed on February 15 and the procees is thought to be ongoing. The Journal News reported then that the metal guitarist made his last mortgage payment in March 2011.
At that time he still owed more than $700,000 on the property and nearly $20,000 in taxes to the county, the town of Yorktown and the local school district that he didn't pay in 2011 or 2012. he also owes interest, late charges and other fees.
Frehley still had a recording studio in the house, where he recorded his 2009 album 'Anomaly,' his first solo-record in 20 years and it climbed to number 27 on the Billboard charts, his best showing in since his 1978 self-titled debut album, which was certified platinum.
Frehley has pursued a solo career on-and-off since 1978. He last left the band in 2002 following a reunion tour.
