LB McClain says he's retiring again

The Sports Network

(SportsNetwork.com) - Linebacker Rolando McClain is apparently retiring again.

McClain, a former first-round pick of the Oakland Raiders, retired last May after signing a one-year contract with the Baltimore Ravens. He was attempting a comeback with Baltimore this spring, but had another change of heart.

'I gotta follow my heart,' McClain wrote in a text to ESPN.com's Seth Wickersham. He then re-tweeted Wickersham's tweet, which added, 'If football made me complete I would play. But whenever I think of it my heart pulls me away from whatever reason.'

The Raiders selected McClain with the eighth overall pick of the 2010 NFL Draft after a standout career at Alabama. He last played in 2012.

In 41 career games with the Raiders, McClain had 246 tackles, 6 1/2 sacks and one interception.

McClain signed a one-year contract with the Ravens last April, but off-field problems continued when he was arrested on a disorderly conduct charge soon after. He called it quits in May in an effort to straighten out his life.

Josh Freeman signed with the New York Giants on Monday to be a backup quarterback to Eli Manning.

The Green Bay Packers will raze about a dozen houses near Lambeau Field this spring.

The Chicago Bears added depth at wide receiver by signing Josh Morgan to a one-year contract on Monday.
