Masters 2014: Bubba Watson issues challenge; Bill Haas, Adam Scott on course

By the time first-round leader Bill Haas teed off Friday at the Masters, things were shaking at Augusta National. The name to watch: Bubba Watson.

Building on Thursday's opening-round 69, Watson was 2 under through 13 holes and 5 under par for the tournament. That put Watson, the 2012 Masters champion, into the provisional lead.

Haas entered Friday at 4 under par. Kevin Stadler, son of The Walrus, was at 4 under through eight holes. Others touched that level, including Jonas Blixt and Louis Oosthuizen.

Things went south fast for Oosthuizen at the famed Georgia course. He took a triple bogey 8 on the par-5 15th hole.

Another one to watch: 2013 champion Adam Scott, a late starter who began Friday at 3 under par.

Australia's Marc Leishman started with three consecutive birdies, but then slid with back-to-back bogeys. Leishman had gone 5 under with his birdie string.

Among early starters, Thomas Bjorn was solid with a 68, tops among the morning crowd and best of the second day. Lucas Glover and Brandon Grace finish at 69 on Friday.

Oosthuizen made an eagle on the 510-yard par-5 13th hole. That brought back memories of 2012, when he stunned the tournament with an albatross on the second hole of the final round. He finished tied with Watson but lost in a playoff.
