2014 Kids' Choice Sports Awards Best Moments
The hottest entertainment and sports stars gathered to celebrate each other with prizes, laughs and loads and loads of Nickelodeon's trademark slime at the inaugural Kids' Choice Sports Awards. '8,000 screaming kids - you gotta be kind of nuts to say yes to that,' host Michael Strahan said before kicking off the show inside UCLA's Pauley Pavilion in Los Angeles. Sure enough, the first sign he was in for trouble happened as soon as the show began.

'I don't care who you are - you can get slimed at any time,' the NFL Hall of Famer warned during his intro speech. No sooner than the words were out of his mouth, he was coated from head to toe! Barely four minutes into the show and the green goo started to flow! With 20,000 gallons of slime, there was no way more stars would avoid the same fate. What's in that stuff anyway?!
From slapstick to slapshot, the award show had everything a fan could want. Love hockey? Well, Will Arnett came out in full Toronto Maple Leafs getup. 'I work out like this and this is a sport show and I wanted to look sporty. I feel like this goalie uniform is pretty slimming,' he joked before confessing that he had always dreamed of becoming a goalie.
Standing next to him was fellow presenter and New York Rangers goaltender Henrik Lundqvist, who quipped, 'I just remembered I have a dream too: to shoot hockey pucks at a comedian's face!' And with that, the gauntlet was thrown and the two men had a shoot off on the stage. It was awesome!

Another memorable part of the night was when one of the presenters turned into a superfan himself. Co-presenter Carlos PenaVega couldn't hide his excitement, and he asked for an autograph from boxer Floyd Mayweather Jr. right there on stage. 'I will never wash this forehead, c'mon do it,' he begged the boxing champ before getting his arm and face scribbled on by Floyd.
For the head-to-head dunk tank Verizon Power Dunk competition, the viewers got involved and voted on which substance the competitors would face as their consolation prize: maple syrup, whipped cream or slime. Slime was the viewers' pick and with that, it was on!
'This is what I do,' Seahawks safety Earl Thomas boasted while standing on the platform. His opponent, Arizona Cardinals player Larry Fitzgerald, quickly accepted the challenge. 'I am confident as well,' he exclaimed. Three targets in 60 seconds, and down went Earl into the tank. Luckily, the Kermit-colored safety was a good sport. 'Back up a little bit, Mike,' Larry said, laughing nervously while the show's MC approached his perch - and with that remark, the winner was also dropped into the goop beneath his feet.
But Ricardo Jacabo Jr., 15, was the one who proved to have the golden arm of the night. The Los Angeles native was granted five chances to make a half-court shot in 60 seconds, live on TV for $50,000! With a giant check waiting for him, he got some All-Star advice.
'Take your time, you'll sink the shot,' free agent Metta World Peace and Dallas Maverick center Tyson Chandler both told Ricardo. With the clock winding down, the teen threw three air balls before sinking the winning shot on his fourth try. We were totally stoked as we watched him run around the stage in jubilation, high fiving his basketball idols!
Crediting his 'hard work and passion,' Michael presented the first-ever Kids' Choice Sports Legend award to David Beckham. Accepting his golden blimp trophy from sons Romeo Beckham, 11, and Cruz, 9, the history-making athlete and his family were also bestowed another high honor - a thorough dousing of golden-colored goo! After all, only the best slime will do for the fashionable Beckhams!
