PS3 4.60 secret feature for DualShock 4

We knew that there would be some secret features added by Sony and now it looks like we have found a hidden one instead on the PS3 4.60 update. Now, we are happy to confirm that you can use the PS4 Dualshock 4 controller wirelessly on the PS3, thanks to this update.

As most of you will have found out, previously you could only use the PS4 pad on PS3 with a wired connection. It also only works with certain games and the short micro-USB cable isn't very ideal for PS3 gaming on a PS4 pad.

Now, it gets a lot easier. Sony has stealthily added support for the PS4 Dualshock 4 pad to be recognized as a bluetooth accessory. If you go to PS3 accessory settings, you will be able to scan for the PS4 controller using this handy trick.

Simply plug your PS4 controller into the PS3 via USB. Next head to accessory settings, then go to the scanning stage. Once there, hold down the PS button and the Share button on the PS4 controller to begin pairing.

If done correctly, you'll see the PS4 controller now flashing and on screen you'll see that the pairing has been successful. You will now be able to navigate on the PS3 XMB wirelessly without needing a cable.

For supported games such as Skyrim, this is going to save a lot of stress now. We just wonder why Sony did not mention this on their PS3 update notes, as this is a great addition that all PS4 owners should know about.

Let us know if this worked for you and also what PS3 games you are still playing that work with a Dualshock 4 controller.
