Album worth of material by Lorde's PJ Harvey inspired band uncovered
Band also state their influences as Fugazi, Bloc Party and Battles
Audio of Lorde singing two songs with her former band And They Were Masked has been revealed.
The clips of songs 'Sands of John' and 'Piece Of Mind' were found by fansite Lorde Daily and can be heard below. A whole album of material by the band, titled 'Characters', can be heard on Bandcamp.
The songs date back to 2011-2012, when Lorde was better known as Ella Yelich O'Conner. A list of And They Were Masked's influences on Facebook cites the Mars Volta, Fugazi, PJ Harvey, Bloc Party, Battles, Massive Attack, At the Drive-In and Dirty Three.
Lorde recently announced that she will curate the soundtrack for The Hunger Games: Mockingjay - Part 1. The singer will work on the music for the third film adaptation from the best-selling series books. She will also provide the lead single for the soundtrack, which will be released on November 21.
Earlier this year Lorde said she was working on a new album of her own material, which is 'totally different' to her previous material. The singer, who reached global success with her 2013 debut album 'Pure Heroine', has said that she has grown as an artist and writer.
