Buffett's Berkshire Hathaway pays $900000 to settle antitrust lawsuit

For not giving government regulators a heads-up about plans to acquire a building supply company, Warren Buffett's investment firm will pay nearly $900,000.

The government says Berkshire Hathaway needed to disclose the deal to acquire stock in USG Corp. last December to allow for an antitrust review.

Chicago-based USG makes wallboard, ceiling suspension systems and acoustic panels. Berkshire became the largest owner of the company and currently holds a 28% stake.

The Justice Department says the settlement requires court approval.

A spokeswoman for Berkshire Hathaway did not return a phone message left Wednesday afternoon.
